Sullivan Farms (first visit)

Sullivan Farms¹ is on 3A along the Merrimack River, just south of the Tyngsborough Bridge (shown above.) Lots of parking (front and back, it might be easier to get in from the Westford Road side or going southbound on 3A, but the area just isn't that busy) and lots of seating (a big section of picnic tables around the side, and a large gazebo just up the hill a little bit.) Also around the side a wall-mounted ATM (a common feature of the handful of explicitly cash-only ice cream shops, like this and Mac's.)

At least four serving windows across the front (given the layout of the menus, they might be able to push that to six or eight for summer crowds.) 70 flavors on their primary menu - not in any worse order than any other menu, but it's one long overwhelming column, so perhaps at that scale it could use a little organization? Still, an interesting list even if it is a bit unwieldy, with four different kinds of cookie dough and half a dozen coffee flavors scattered among the classics. On top of that, there's another late-October seasonal flavors page with another dozen (including four more Oreo flavors and three Pumpkins.) Didn't see an opinion on sprinkles vs jimmies, but they did have gummy bears available as a topping.

They also have frozen yogurt, sherbet and sorbet, and a few "no sugar" added flavors; the seasonal menu includes three vegan options (not sure how vegans end up being seasonal, but their season starts October 9th, you heard it here first...)

First Visit

I was not completely overwhelmed by the menu and went with Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup - a nicely rich chocolate that wasn't too dark, filled with peanut butter cup chunks - add some texture, and peanut butter as an accent flavor, but wasn't actually crunchy.

Followed that with "Tara's Turtle Trax", a vanilla base with a generous proportion of brownie chunks. (Given that half a dozen of the flavors were "named" I'm guessing they're "staff picks" or something like that.) Tasty, but I should have followed with something crunchy instead - Butter Pecan, Maple Walnut, or Grapenut - or maybe "Cookie Chaos" though I couldn't find a more detailed description of that one.

Future Visits

Disorganized though it may be, there were a lot of interesting options on the menu - Heavenly Hash, Grasshopper Pie, and Chocolate Turtle stood out, or there's Orange Pinapple and Black Raspberry if you're looking for more summery flavors. There's even a Cherry Vanilla with maraschino cherries, if that's your thing - it's certainly not mine! There was also another menu that might have had options for frappes and sundaes, but I didn't notice it the first time through; that'll be something to look for next time around.
